What we did
Who?
Diversity VC is a not-for-profit community with a mission to increase diversity and inclusion within the global venture capital community.
Why?
Diversity VC came to us because their current website needed much clearer messaging and smoother navigation for the user, and it wanted to position itself as a facilitator that helps the global venture capital space improve its diversity metrics. The website needed to better communicate Diversity VC’s value proposition and provide a seamless user journey, for a range of users across a range of geographies. Lucky we love a challenge!
How?
The first step was to ask the questions: Who is Diversity VC and what do they want to achieve? But more importantly, who is the audience and what do THEY want to achieve? We studied the existing site map and figured out the best possible user experience for the audience and came up with a new site map. We also posed questions at each step and on each page making sure that we could start to map out the content and nail down the messaging and the CTAs (Calls To Action).

Using Diversity VCs existing branding, we created wireframes and then a clickable prototype to see if the design hung together well. We then moved to creating designs for each and every page, constantly asking ourselves the questions: who is the audience, what do we want them to know, what do we want them to do, is it Friday yet? Through a design-thinking approach, we pulled together a focused, succinct design to take the end audience from A to B in just a few steps – reducing churn and increasing engagement. We also worked with the client to update the website copy so that the value proposition and CTA were loud and clear.

Our dazzling dev team then got to work building the site, ensuring all forms were integrated, including a Calendly function that would let users book a meeting (reducing manual work for the client), MailChimp to let visitors or prospective members to sign up to the newsletter, and an email contact form to get in touch with the relevant person.

Once the site was built, we ran it through our rigorous testing process for functionality and responsiveness, as well as integration testing, across desktop and mobile devices. When all bugs were fixed and the tests were passed, the site was ready to be moved over to the live domain (woohoo!). But the fun wasn’t over yet. Once on the live domain, we made sure to run all tests once again, to make sure nothing had gone funky in the transition and then finally opened it up to User Acceptance Testing (having done this once before in the test environment as well). Since not everyone is as nerdy as we are, we closed off the project after providing a simple transition document to show the client how to update the site with their latest content.

Et voila. We are so proud to have helped Diversity VC launch their window to the world. The new site encapsulates the organization’s objectives and goals, showcases its brilliant reports and research on diversity in the world of venture capital, and – most importantly – captures their target audience and guides them through Diversity VC’s brilliant resources and services.
